IN SATURDAY’S LOCAL NEWS…WEBCOMIC ARTIST CONFUSES READERSHIP WITH OLD SCHOOL ATTIRE, NEW SCHOOL CREATIVITY

Last week I told you about an interview I did with Mike Osgueda at the Fresno Bee in anticipation of my speaking assignment at last week’s Comic Con in San Diego. Low and behold, I have a link to take you right to the article. Mike Oz thought so much of the piece that he petitioned his editor and it ran in Saturday’s paper. My mom is so proud.

COMIC CON

Comic Con is over now and it was a whirlwind experience. This was the first year I’ve gone as a professional (Thanks, Monsterplex! You were good for something!) and also the first year I was asked to speak on a panel…which I was only too glad to do. I thought I acquitted myself fairly well. I spoke candidly about my Zuda experience and the economic realities that were most likely in play. It was nice to be able to talk about it.

Did a lot of shopping for books and attending panels. My favorite panel was for Burn Notice, if only because of Bruce Campbell. He truly is the man. Also had a close encounter with JJ Abrams late one night when he asked us directions to a movie theater. Since he approached us first, I had no problem outing him and getting a handshake out of the deal. His hands, like mine, are almost womanly.

Glad to be back home now. We’re in the run up to the last strips of Chapter 9 and the almost daily schedule I’ll soon be on. All I could think when I got home was: I have so much work to do.

See you on Thursday with SuperFogeys 267!
