THE SUPERFOGEYS REVIEWED IN THE COMICS BUYER’S GUIDE

This one is a big freakin’ deal for me. Back when I was younger and could afford it, I had a regular, weekly comic book buying habit. I devoured comics, spending literally all money I made on both current and back issues. I had thousands of them. Also part of my weekly reading diet were magazines about comics, like Comics Scene and, of course, the Comics Buyer’s Guide.

CBG was a weekly, newspaper style trade magazine about comics back then and I never missed an issue. Though it has evolved into more of a magazine style book, it still features the same mix of commentary, editorial, news and reviews that I loved as a kid. You can imagine what an honor it is now to be able to report that the current issue, #1662 with the debut of a new webcomics review column, features an amazing review of the SuperFogeys by writer Kris Manty. It’s a surreal world, and I’m living in it.

I don’t know if my local store carries CBG, but now that this issue is out I aim to find out. I recommend everyone pick up a copy as it’s sure to be a good read. The review is not available on the web and I don’t have permission to publish it on this site (Kris? You out there?), but here’s a little taste of what Kris had to say:

“SuperFogeys could have been a simple satire about aging super-heroes and mine for easy jokes, and it did start out being more of a gag-a-day type comic. However, as the feature progressed, Heasley grew as a storyteller and turned it into something much more.”

Pretty cool, huh?

See you tomorrow with the final page of Harvey the Science Rabbit, Part One!
