The noir layers are peeled back a bit here, but not completely. Again, I remind you that this was written a very, very long time ago. Before SuperFogeys Origins even started. I think I’d be much less wordy these days. Big thanks to artist Chip Skelton for his amazing work!
Don’t know what incident with Star Maiden Spy Gal and Cap are talking about? Check it out right here!
Okay – he calls her “Vanessa.”
At least he’s in love with the woman, not the spandex. Whatever they had or didn’t – it was real. Suck on that, Jerry!!
And it’s fun. I don’t like all the “origins” stories for one reason or another, but this one has some nice texture to it.
There’s a lot of experimentation going on in the Origins. Not all experiments work out as well as others, but it’s fun to play a little while telling some pretty cool stories. Glad you’re digging this one, JE.
In his day he was a hero. At heart, really just a guy, with all the flaws that go with that. And, y’know, in his place, really believing that I would never go home again, I *would* have done the same thing. There was a Superman story that perhaps inspired this wherein Kal El and Diana – Supes and Wonder woman – are whisked to another dimension together and fight for the Norse gods for a thousand years. And Kal never once is unfaithful to Lois Lane. Apparently Wilbur is more of a mortal man than our Visitor From Another Planet.
Last comic – I like the level of dedication “The Revolution Never Happened” in Hungarian. Awesome work Chip. Nice insight into the goofy side of Cap.
I’ve been waiting a long time to see what the Thrice Evil is all about. Will we get to see him do something besides look sad?
Yes! You will see Thrice in his prime. I’m not promising a lot of him because the story isn’t really about him, but you will see what he once was.
If someone called me “Sugar Booger” I’d rip off his nose and feed it to him. That’s just nasty.
Believe it or not, I stole that nickname from some couple friends of mine.
Oh, eck!

One of the Cartoon Network characters uses that term for his wife. Fairly Odd Parents? Can’t remember. It’s been awhile, my kids are (barely) adults now.
