Mega Matt. Boy if there’s one character who I think went from fan favorite to kind of… annoying, I think it’s him. I don’t know what it was, exactly, but I remember readers really loving Matt in the Society of Heroes origin story, but it seems the more I used him in the main story the less people were entertained by his particular brand of… is it comedy? I’m not sure. I dunno. That’s just my perception. Maybe you guys still love him.
In this strip you get some idea of why I’ve been keeping him around for so long (after all, we’ve lost both of Matt’s brothers at this point!). I’ve always said I have an endgame in mind for SF, and today you probably get your first, legitimate clue about that endgame: it involves Mega Matt. Raise your hand if you predicted THAT.

First off isn’t messing with time travel more of a mess than ever given how much the future can change and/or how linear it can be to prevent change to the set timeline ?
Second: Mega Matt, despite his annoyance, has loss loved one throughout the series and I have to ask Will we ever see his emotional response to those losses ?
Good point about Matt’s emotional response, his mom (villain though she was), and all of his siblings. It could be though, that being flip, chipper and upbeat is a mask he always wears to hide feelings of inadequacy and vulnerability.
Geeze, and here before I read your comment, I was just going to make some flip remark about how the drugs are so much better back then.
Marcus: 1) Making a mess of things depends on how your time travel works. Is it Back to the Future style where things can change, or is it more of a locked timeline where things have always happened the way they have BECAUSE of time travel? I think it’s fairly clear which type of time travel is at play in SF, but you tell me if I’m wrong.
I think Romi’s response is a good one re: Mega Matt’s emotions. I think there’s a lot that happens off panel when Mega Matt is alone. And he hasn’t just lost his brothers and mom… he lost his dad last chapter, too. He’s the only one left. Which is… incredibly sad.
Oh I totally blanked on Tangerine! Matt’s an orphan now! Of course he’d want to go where it sounds like he’d thrived before.
All I know is that I stopped predicting this comic because of $%##$@ Mega Matt.
As is appropriate!
