Today’s strip reads a little weird without the context surrounding it. I try to avoid this sort of thing. I much prefer it when the strips can stand at least somewhat on their own, but the nature of this section of the chapter makes that a little difficult. I highly recommend going back a few strips.
Marc does a stellar job making Portalmaker a distinctly different person from the Jerry we’re all familiar with. I love the gag with his hand going through a portal to reach his daughter. Such a unique use of his powers, and it was all Marc’s idea.
I’m still blogging my unemployment experience (which unfortunately is not yet at an end) over at brockheasley.com. Recent posts have dealt with my desire to go to prison and a trip to San Francisco my wife and I took so she could audition for an on camera job.Ā
I sort of called this from the start as it explains why Gina acts the way she does now. Plus, this sort of explains the heroes meeting their younger selves in that one chapter, right ?
So yes. Our “main” universe is actually the not so good universe. Well, it’s not all gone wrong. Two out of three branches of government isn’t half bad!
Never regret anything.
I like how earth-Avalon is sort of the traditional comicbook world, where good always wins, and “our” earth is the dark and gritty one, common in newer works. It’s a pretty cool idea š
And thus, Qward was created…I mean, the splinter Earth…;)
Hey, Brock! Didn’t know you were unemployed! Be praying for you, man! It’s happened to me and quite a few of my close buds here in North Carolina too!
Liking the twists and all in the comic! Too much to comment on, but it’s great!
Marc, your art is always FANTASTIC!
