People crash through walls a lot in this saga. (<–I’m sure there are more.)
You’ve met the Earth-Avalon version of the Lodge of Doom… now, here’s the Society of Heroes. To save you the trouble of looking through the tags, from left to right that’s Ms. Missile, Swifty, Raptor XII, General Will, Captain Spectacular II, Spy Gal, and Force Majeure. There’s lots to find out about Earth-Avalon and we’re trying to give it to you as fast as we can. Much more to come.
This week: look for more fan art from Jason Williams… all leading to a special announcement.
there is another speedy in that group!
Who is the man with the four stars? He must be alternate Jerry because this old man has tons of muscles.
Hopefully we will learn the source of Captain Spectacular II’s power.
Nah, check the hair and eyebrows, that’s alternate Captain Spectacular. Also that would explain why alt CSII doesn’t have the CS logo. He can’t be CSII, because there hasn’t been a CSI in this universe 🙂
Yeah, the hair and eyebrows are a dead giveaway. Hasn’t been a CSI? Check my comment below.
Cap in… Percy’s colors? CSII looking… almost no different? Who the big blue guy? Who the Star Trek extra in the back left? Why does ALL of the dialogue feel like Swifty’s being set up now? TUNE IN NEXT WEEK, TRUE BELIEVERS!
The lizard guy might be a version of Raptor X. The raptor/reptile part is obvious and his headgear is kinda x-shaped. I wanna know what “Not CSII”‘s name is.
Captain Spectacular II, according to Brock’s paragraph.
Oh. Yeah.Now I’m confused…
Hey, now I don’t have to say it!
That definitely is the second Captain Spectacular in the cape. The first one is right next to him.
Huh, 2 Swifty (s), why do I have a bad feeling that this is only going to cause more harm than good in the story of Swifty ? 🙁
Heh – I think two x Swifty = massive argument.
One of my biggest surprises in writing this chapter so far is the conversation between the two Swiftys. I thought it was going to be one thing, but once I tapped into their voices it ended up being something very different.
It came to my mind that in another alternative universe (or maybe in this one), Captain S. and Dr. Rocket (with different names or what not) were given the others powers in the Jorbons’ spaceship. It’s kinda interesting thought that what would the results been (maybe, just maybe the results would have been quite different than what Pilatius thought).
But General Will, eh? That sounds quite interesting name if given backstory!
That IS a cool idea for an alternate reality. Is that how it went in this one? We’ll see.
Parallel universes… why did it have to be parallel universes.
Because I’m a HUGE Elseworlds fan. Shame DC shut that imprint down. Started great (Gotham by Gaslight) and ended with a bang (Red Son).
Elseworlds was ok, because is wasn’t intended to be travel between universes throughout the multiverse.
And no-one wonders where Jerry-Avalon is and at which side ^^
GREAT question.
Actually, I just noticed. Force Majeure’s face does look a bit like Jerry.
Asdfghjkl I HATE catching up! Now its gonna be, like, another YEAR before I can read the Superfogeys! D:
Also is it just me or does Spy Gal look kinda young?
Puck! I’ve had fun reading your comments over the past week. I hope you won’t go away for that long.
Well, I guess we know what Muscles Thrice is trying to escape from. General Will looks a lot more severe than CS. Since we have CS II in this dimension, at some point the Avalon CS retired the mantle and took a new moniker. I can’t wait for the dramatic flashback that explains what happened. I’m getting a Justice Lords vibe from this version of CS. I’ll be curious to see if the next strip has him snapping Muscles Thrice’s neck if he refuses to surrender. I’m still leaning towards this version of CS being the menace. Avalon Money Man hopped dimensions to try and warn of the terrible danger coming and at one point lamented he couldn’t help “him.” I’m not sure who on Muscles Thrice’s team he could have been referring to and the impression I got was that it was someone he considered a friend. My crazy speculation is that something happened and General Will went all Tangerine. We’ve got a good chunk of the Lodge of Doom assembled minus Pink Shade and Mr Crook, but more importantly Dr Rocket and Soviet Sam. Can’t help but wonder if the reason Money Man survived is because Soviet Sam never got the chance to punch his ticket for the next world. I’m curious to see how things unfold, because I could be completely wrong and Zombie Orson Welles could show up any time now to wreak havoc. 🙂
Andrew, I’ve missed this.
You’re going to have so much fun this chapter.
A counterpoint theory (loosley based on Si Civa’s): Dr. Rocket and Mr. Crook aren’t there because not only has Crook not died yet on Earth Avalon but he and Rocket are still friends here, and… both heroes. Rocket got the powers our Cap got, and vice versa. (General Will simply has a LOT of normal human muscles, I wager). Admittedly, Crook is just an educated guess here, but on our Crook’s Earth, he and Rocket were pretty close, and E-A does not seem to have * broken* the connections we know about on our Crook’s Earth… just changed them somewhat. So if Rocket became a stalwart hero here, maybe Crook got inspired to change his ways?
(Oh, and Thrice has been screwing with Swifty’s head *completely*. None of the othe rvillians OR the Society of Heroes are really there. The obvious hypnotism from before and the dialogue on this page convince me of that!)
On all the rest, I’m betting you’re right, Andrew!
Or maybe, in this universe, Money Man killed Sam?! And so, filled with regret, he left his capitalist ways and… okay I don’t know exactly where I’m going with this, but hey 😀
