Saw a show last week (24) in which a woman got a couple fingers cut off. It looked like an awful experience. Gina doesn’t explain how “he” did it, but basically how it went down on the show was they put a metal wedge on her finger and then hit with a hammer. Popped the finger right off.
I probably didn’t need to describe that in such detail. Sorry. But it goes to the point of Gina’s horrified look in panel 3. Marc did a bang up job on that panel. That’s a very specific emotion and he just captured it perfectly.
Wednesday: The penultimate strip of Chapter 18: One Year Later!
That strip honestly scared me. Good job, I gues…
We’ll take it.
Wouldn’t she still have a stump, or something?
I suppose that depends on the thoroughness and method? If T-Magus did it and was using magic, it could’ve healed up quite nicely so there wouldn’t even been a scar.
On a more mundane level, a good surgeon/plastic surgeon could probably do a thorough enough job to pass casual inspection (and it would probably involve removing the bones in the hand that the pinky attaches to, as well, then closing up hand, probably concealing the surgery scar by putting it on the edge of the palm… Ew. I just kinda creeped myself out.)
Depends on how it was removed. If it was a generic hedge trimmer that did it there should be a space between fingers (And if it were a pinkie it wouldn’t be that smooth along the side of the hand) and the knuckle would still be there. The hand width to arm width is the same as that of a normal person.
Now if it was magically removed then everything I said goes out the window.
Everyone’s already said it… depends on how it was removed.
Huh? I’m a bit confused by what Gina meant by that ? š
Yet it looks like we have to wait to find out the answer.
You will not have to wait long. The chapter ends Monday, June 2nd. I promise by then this will be a lot more clear.
Oh, I, uh… That was unexpectedly grim.Good job conveying the fear, I mean, her expression and her lines match up really well, she seems scared Sh*tless! I’m actually worried about Swifty! Good job both of you š
I’m going to admit to be surprised by the impact of this strip. I felt something upon seeing the finished piece that I didn’t get while writing it and I think it’s that fear that you’re talking about. Marc conveyed in a way I couldn’t how absolutely, genuinely afraid we should be for Swifty.
Swifty only has 4 digits to
True. Because he’s from “here.”
OK, by “the person who did this” I was thinking she was referring to puppet-mastered the whole Zurida invasion, not cut off her finger. Yeah, that’s completely outside of Gene’s level of evil. No going to blame it on nurse Carter either. What ever happened to her? One of my favourite background characters just due to her whole taking everything that happened at Valhalla so casually; it sort of makes me wonder what her attitude to the invasion is.
I think there’s a great comic to be made following Nurse Carter around. I don’t have current plans to feature her, but then she tends to pop up when you least expect it–for me as well. It’s doubtful she’s dead one year later. How’s that?
Hmm. Well Gina looks like Sarah Palin, and T-magus looks like Barack Obama. She’s not too happy to work for him, he seems okay with it. With the speculation about Money man on the previous page, the only person who would fit that bill for him that I can think of would be Bill Gates.
Looking forward to Monday!
