Okay, I’m kind of not-so-secretly proud of the title for today’s strip. I probably shouldn’t be.
Marc has really been digging into these villain scenes and I couldn’t be happier with the result. What’s even more impressive is that he’s doing all this concurrently with his always hoppin’ commission work AND the extensive sketch work needed to prep for the next chapter. What does that mean? It’s too soon to tell you anything, but we’ll get there.
Been dropping some fun tidbits and hints at the SuperFogeys Facebook page lately. If you’re not a fan already, now’s a good time to start!
That does it. Zurida’s getting a hug.
Although I think she is only going to receive a skull crack from Tangerine…
I bet if Zurida got one, good hug she’d turn to good.
Also, Pollyanna lives.

Made me laugh.
There has to be some bits of the former fun Star Maiden left inside her mind….right ? š
We’ve seen the evidence of that already. So… yes!
Brain overload, she’s going to revert back to Star Maiden.
yes! And I love it!
Maybe because I just watched White Christmas, but I suddenly pictured Zurida and Star Maiden suddenly doing the song and dance song Sisters from that movie.
And now I must go YouTube that song.
I think it would be more like the drag version from Crosby and Kaye!
To quote Dr Rocket’s previous assessment of Zurida: “You don’t really get your due for how truly amazing you are, do you?” We’ve seen her bully, terrorize and plot diabolically, but I think this is the first time we’ve seen her engage in direct psychological manipulation. She’s got the full super villain skill set perfected. What else could one expect of the Mistress of Worlds? Her face in panel two just oozes sincerity. I am always blown away by Marc’s skill with expressions. It also reminds me of an old bit that Louie Anderson used to do, about how if you could pick your family you’d probably still make a mistake. Then again, trading in Daddy Bezuel for Zurida as a sister might actually be a step up in Dark/Star Maiden’s case.
This comic would just not be the same without Marc’s facility with facial expressions. I describe facial expressions more than any other element in my scripts and sometimes I ask Marc to draw two or three emotions on one face and he always, ALWAYS rises to the challenge. It’s amazing.
