In addition to the usual miracles Marc does with the art in each strip, in this one he went a little further and chose much better angles than I originally scripted. Sometimes I try to think of the version of SuperFogeys that would exist if I was still drawing it and it’s… better that didn’t happen. Stick figures, people. That’s what Marc saved you from. Stick figures with arrows pointing to boxes with the word “chair” inside.
Next week: Tangerine is free. Now what is he gonna do?
This has been such a long time coming—seriously, such a long, long time—that I wouldn’t have minded Marc doing a full page of just that first frame. Props on the action.
I’m with you, Tyler. I have no doubt Marc would have loved to have done the same, but then we do want to see the next strip in a timely fashion, don’t we?
Nah. If you and Marc want a day’s post to be just one big POW!!!!!, you go right ahead. We can always wait for tomorrow for more.
Amen to that. POW! is good…
Noted!
Yeah, Jerry truly deserves that punch, but something tells me this will not end well for everybody involved. 🙁
Spoiler: Atomic Fly is gonna be OK.
The “I did it all for you” speech isn’t going to go over well.
Obviously you don’t suffer from a lot of insecurity, but if you do then that line KILLS.
The second panel is in its own way important. No escapes from reality for Jerry anymore. Though then again, Jerry hitting his head to closed door would be the funniest thing.
Forgot to congrulate you about the yesterday’s strip, the best kind of storytelling: twist that was the most logical thing yet no one thought about it. Marvelous.
Thanks, Si Civa! Sometimes I stay ahead of you guys, sometimes I don’t. Always fun when it happens–though it’s usually on the stuff I least expect (like this one).
wow, Space Pig looks really bad ass over there… and Atomic Fly looks just… hilarious as always. Great work guys! 😀
It’s all Marc, Champy-kun! I know he appreciates the kudos.
I think Marc does a spectacular job on every strip, but some just really stand out. I think this is the best example I ever seen of conveying detail through the use of color and shading in any comic. I could never understand the appeal of the 90’s Liefeld school of bulging veins and so many detail lines that characters look disfigured. It’s one of the things I’ve always liked most about Marc’s style, his ability to convey such detail through shading and color while keeping the drawing itself “clean”. Jerry’s musculature in the first two panels is fantastically rendered but it’s done more with shading of his costume than with lines. The texture on the power dampeners brilliantly rendered. I both applaud and envy your talent.
Nicely said, Andrew! I know Marc appreciates that kind of attention to his art.
If I’m pushed, I think I have to admit that ‘payback’ scenarios are probably my favourite aspect of thriller fiction (and this is definitely a thriller, regardless of setting). From the cliffhanger to today’s strip, I have enjoyed SF like never before. Tight scripting and kicking action. Kudos to the both of you.
Thanks, Spike! Funnily enough, “payback” or “revenge” isn’t all that interesting to me personally, but Spy Gal kind of demanded it in this one.
Wow, love the feel of this page.
Flipping finally. 🙂
I have to say I wonder how Spygal is going to screw this up? Even with all the evidence right in front of her and incontrovertible proof of Jerry’s shenanigans, the woman who actually bought his transparent BS and married him in Vegas against all common sense and propriety is still capable of pulling defeat from the jaws of victory – or delusion from the crystal clarity. Nonetheless, she seems to have pulled her head out lately, and I heartily approve of the current smackdown. Very well-considered and planned out. One wonders if she might have had something like this in the back of her mind all along? Don’t want to give her the credit, but it’s possible.
And of course, verrrry nicely executed art. A beautiful cinematic turn.
