The end of a chapter is my favorite part. It’s when everything comes together and the design of the thing is made clear. The chapter basically has three endings. You’ve seen one already, but this next one coming up should be obvious to longtime readers with good memories. But it’s the third ending I’m REALLY excited about, mostly because of what it promises for the next chapter. You’ll see what I mean soon.
I’m seeing Man of Steel tomorrow night. When I was a kid, I’d read all the time about the superhero movies coming soon, but save for the original Batman series, most of them never appeared. Now we’re in the golden age of the superhero movie and it’s hard to pick a favorite. That’s actually quite a nice problem to have. If I had to pick one, I’d probably be lame and say The Dark Knight, with Thor a close second. I dunno know if that will change tomorrow night, but it might. I’m curious, what’s your favorite superhero movie?
Superman! The fortress of solitude is the ultimate man cave.
Too true. Assuming you mean the original 1978 Superman movie… that’s a great pick.
Probably either Batman Begins or The Avengers.
I’m surprised Batman Begins is so high up for you considering your negative feelings towards The Dark Knight.
I loved Batman Begins and I loved TDKR, but yeah I wasn’t a huge fan of #2. Makes no sense, I know. I think I might like the first one the most because it was such an adventure and I love how they introduce the audience to Bruce Wayne and Batman.
I’m not a big Dc fan, as I’m into Marvel films more.
So now Swifty’s has a problem on his hands…do the right thing and help Jerry after all the trouble he caused or tell Spy Girl she was right ?
Decisions….decisions. 🙁
Also, Jerry should have known better than to tick off a crazed Space queen like Zurdia.
Will anyone save him from his fate or can be defend himself from Zurdia’s power ? 🙁
That’s the beauty of Jerry–he doesn’t have to defend. He can always just escape.
Let me just say, I’m a big fan of Jerry’s development in these last few strips 🙂 I rooted for him before, and never really got that “evil villain” vibe from him, always thought more of him as a misguided villain, if nothing else. I’m very happy to see that, in his own mind, he’s still one of the good guys, and he actually believes in CS! He might be crazy, and a villain, but I can’t help but hope he won’t get punished too hard in the end… Or at least he manages to do something worthwhile before getting blasted to atoms by Zurida, or Rocket, or Spygirl or whoever else wants a piece of him (or his alter egos) by now 😛
Jerry has some great moments coming up. Looking forward to you weighing in once they hit!
At the same time, I can see this being a Tom Zarek kind of thing, where he starts to improve and then falls to his lowest before the end. Um…spoiler alert?
The worst thing that’s ever happened to swifty – he has to admit he was wrong.
Could it ever be anything else?
you remember the scene in Mrs. Doubtfire where he is having to play Mrs. Doubtfire AND himself in the restaurant to keep everyone from seeing he’s been living a double life.
What jerry is going through now reminds me of that. AND it looks like it’s time for the make up to come off and the truth to come out.
That’s the real takeaway from Mrs. Doubtfire: in the end, secret identities don’t really work out.
Give Swifty the crystal, Jerry! Give Swifty the crystal and send him jumping wildly through time! Do it to save the world! Do it so for once I can be right about guessing what is going to happen in the strip!
You will know if you are right before the end of this chapter, that much I can promise.
Yeah Jerry, give her the crystal now so she can kill everyone at Valhalla more efficiently later!
Zurida really has a limited list of things she threatens people with. It’s probably easy to get into that kind of rut though, seeing how conquering/destroying world is her day job.
