Talking heads, talking heads! SF features this kind of strip so rarely anymore that I know it’s a welcome relief for Marc when he gets one. Plus, I get to return to my first love: dialogue.
Do you know what you’re missing at brockheasley.com? Come on over now and find out or I’ll kill your chickens. Don’t have any chickens? Then consider “chickens” a euphemism for your favorite body parts. Either way, check it out!
Paging Jerry, paging Jerry. Doctor Rocket has your NUMBER! Ok that was lame.
Anyway, I love how DR calls him a villain and mentions those “deaths.” Tom isn’t dead, and we don’t know whether or not Jerry wanted Herman dead. He said, “…it wasn’t unfortunate the shapeshifter died…” or something along those lines. He’s just not villain material. So I don’t agree on that point. Just glad that Jerry finally gets to cringe a bit and I really don’t mind that it happened right after his “shining” moment.
Oh god, I just defeated my own argument there. It’s supposed to read “…it WAS unfortunate the shapeshifter died….” People won’t let me live that one down.
We’ll never let you live this one down. lawls
But Jerry deserves his happiness! …Right?
Nope. Dude’s a villain, he sacrificed a man’s life in the pursuit of his selfish goal. In his origin and the comic it’s never about making Spy Gal happy or being happy together, it’s all about his happiness and desires.
Fair points, all.
I agree. The ends do not justify the means, no matter how much he’s convinced himself that they do.
Right. He’s a punk. Needs to be slapped down – hard. You know what Space Pig said to Soviet Sam? It’s a pretty good definition of “hero.”
Everything Jerry’s done has been selfish. No – he doesn’t have a “due.” Especially if he thinks it’s justified to steal it from people by deception.
Ellis Peters’ Brother Cadfael once said, “No man is measured by the love he gives to others but by how much he is loved.” It’s never something that can be stolen. Love is earned.
He’s a chump and a loser. That’s all he’ll ever be.
What’s up with Thrice? He’s all like, “Hey, everybody!! Look up my nose! Oooh, what’s that on the ceiling?!?” Anyway, another great strip artistically done! And, yes, Brock, your first love, dialogue, is shining brilliantly today. 🙂
@ Marc – I’ve been WAY too busy to send you a message to thank you, but I did receive the artwork through the mail – thanks, buddy!! It looks “super”! 😀
Okay, I’ll never make that pun again. 😉 lol
Thrice sees more than that the rest of us. How often do you look up at the ceiling? There’s big stuff going on up there!
I like the fact that Dr. Rocket HAS to compliment Jerry, especially considering they have a similar past. The “You’ve never truly gotten your due, have you?” line especially. You can just tell that Dr. Rocket appreciates not just the cunning but also the motivation, lest we forget that a lack of respect is exactly what drove Dr. Rocket to becoming a villain in the first place. Let’s also not forget that Doc was also C.S.’s best friend in childhood.
So now the question — will the Dr. convince Jerry to truly join what remains of the Lodge of Doom?
There’s a good question… what of the Lodge of Doom?
One other thing that crosses my mind that I don’t think has crossed Dr. Rocket’s — Jerry is likely more dangerous than he is if pressed. Doc might have the book smarts, but Jerry has sheer, unimaginable levels of cunning that surpasses any of the remaining Lodge of Doom.
they’re talking rather loudly right outside spy gal’s door.. she’s probably still in the shower, and MAY cap is still to distraught and introspective to have overheard..
mayBE..
Actually, if you go back a little, you’ll see that Jerry and Spy Gal and Captain Spectacular were actually in Jerry’s room. There were few clues, but they were there. Nobody is currently in Spy Gal’s room.
I agree. Totally’s not Spy Gal’s stuff in that room. And Jerry, going right down the hallway and not turning around, naturally progressed in only one direction down the hallway, making it impossible for him to have somehow found himself back at the door he came out of.
What’s a little blackmail between frenemies.:)
This is one of those moment where you hope the Captain is again using his power of invisibility.
This is the classic…I’ve helped you achieve EVERYTHING you’ve ever wanted…NOW it’s my turn to dangle it over your head ANYTIME i need anything…
I wonder what dr. Rocket’s angle is in all of this…I have a feeling we’re about to find out sooner than we think
Muwahaha.
Harvey is maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad.
It IS a pretty good scheme.
I love this story, this should so be made into a movie one day…but not live action.
The story is getting so good, I check on days when I know there is no updates just to see if I can spot something ells. The art is so good, I love the subtle details, you guys rock!
Sam, that means a lot! Thanks so much for your kind words. I feel like we’re getting better and better and I hope our best stuff is still ahead. I’m plotting out the big Invasion arc right now and it’s HUGE and I hope it engages you just as much as what’s come before.
really like the spygal door name in the final panel. classy.
also cant help but wonder what star maiden is up to. i know thats coming around soon 🙂
