MARC TOPS HIMSELF AGAIN

I don’t know if it’s noticeable to any of you, but for me, as soon as I saw the art for this strip, I realized Marc had made another leap forward in his art on SF. This isn’t a flashy strip, so it’s as subtle difference. But it’s there. I hope you’re like me and really digging seeing that kind of growth from week to week. And don’t forget…if you’re still enjoying SF, you have Marc to thank. It wouldn’t have continued with him. Strips like this show me how lucky I am.

FIGHTING THE GOOD FIGHT…AND WINNING

I don’t know how much I’ve talked about it ’round these parts, but over the past several months my wife has been engaged in quite the fight with The Man. You’ll recall my daughter Cami (now 6 and about to enter the 1st grade) has special needs. Among those is a stable surface to play on. The problem is that the new school she’s headed to was going to have a playground with rubberized wood chips as a surface. Cami wouldn’t have been able to play on it and our contention was that that’s a violation of her civil rights.

Well, that’s all over now. This week we got word that the school district has decided to put in a different surface to allow Cami and other kids like her access to the playground. This after months of fighting and complaining and meetings and, and, and… It’s quite the tale, actually. Needless to say, I’m pretty proud of Erin and all that she’s done on our daughter’s behalf. I’ve supported her in the effort, but she’s pretty much done all the work. She’s amazing.

I might do a fuller writeup on the incredible story of how this happened if there’s interest, but my point in sharing this is to say that sometimes being on the right side of something and being persistent and (sometimes) annoying pays off. That’s a beautiful thing to keep in mind, always.

See you on Frieday with Jerry, Pg. 12! (Tease: Dinosaur!)
