UPDATE! READER GREG BULMASH BREAKS IT DOWN!

I’ve gotta thank Greg for this. He posted it earlier today in the comments and it just made me smile. He puts the point across in a way that I, as the person asking for the donation, would be too ashamed to. So just know that I didn’t write this, but the math is right.

“I’m very happy rocking my BBC America “Torchwood” wallpaper at home, and my son’s photo at work, but I donated anyway.

“If you donate $20, you’ve just paid less than 10 cents a week for 208 weeks of Superfogeys, guest strips, the SFO and Monsterplex goodies, and all the cool fan art (seeing Dave Reddick’s takes on the Fogeys was worth at least 63 cents alone).

“Think about all the time you’ve spent enjoying Brock’s work. If you averaged 3 minutes a week, that’s 624 minutes or 10.4 hours. That’s 4 or 5 DVD rentals. Whether you equate that to a half-month of a Netflix membership or 5 DVDs at Redbox, that’s around $5.

“If you’d give Netflix or Redbox $5 for bringing you 624 minutes of entertainment, why not Brock?

“He’s not a big soulless corporation that sees you as an account number. He’s a struggling artist with a soul as big as 63.72% of the Southwestern quarter of Montana. And Brock loves you for who you are, not for what you can do for him.

“So give $5 (or more). Sneak in a bag of skittles to the next movie you see instead of buying it at the counter and the donation is paid for.

“And if you throw the skittles in the air at just the right moment, they’ll look like the bubbles of light.”

NOW GIVING AWAY WALLPAPERS AND TAKING DONATIONS

This was posted on Tuesday, but it’s important enough that I want to rerun it here. Your support, as always, is appreciated:

Did you notice it before you scrolled down here? If you didn’t, take a look up top, just under the Space Pig. See the Money Man icon? I am now accepting donations for the continued production of the SuperFogeys. If you enjoy what I’m doing here and want to see more in the future, your contribution would mean a lot.

However, I’m not one to ask for something for nothing. True, you could argue that the strips and pages and story you get every week are the “something,” but I think I can do better than that. So…for the first time ever…I’m making SuperFogeys Wallpapers available.

When you make a donation–be it large or small (there is no minimum or maximum donation required)–the Wallpaper of the Week will be emailed to you asaicgtc (As Soon As I Can Get To a Computer).

“Wallpaper of the Week?” Yep, that’s right. My plan is to have a new wallpaper available every week and post it in the little picture frame below the Money Man (so you know it’s been changed and can see what it is). Usually it will be based on existing art, but I’d also like to sneak some originals in there now and again.

Sound like a plan? Everyone on board? My hope is that you can understand the spirit in which I am doing this and and why. Thank you in advance!

Here’s a little look at just some of the wallpapers I’ve already worked up and will be rolling out soon:

(If you can’t see this imagine, click here!)

And hey, I take requests! If you ever see something in the comics that you think would make a great wallpaper, let me know!

UPDATE: Based on requests, I’ve already worked up a wallpaper featuring Dr. Klein turning into Jerry, Tangerine lounging on his bunk (from the Tangerine Origin) and Spy Gal being a Mercenary Spy (from the Spy Gal origin, page 5). Requests go to the top of the queue, so let me know!

NEXT WEEK:

On Tuesday, Monica has words and something a little more…explosive for Manny and Vanessa. It’s gonna get ugly.

Then, on Thursday, Star Maiden greets a new visitor coming through the Bubbles of Light…herself.
