More silent panels. Satisfying? No? Refer to my notes in the previous strip for why we’re doing this.
The meat of this chapter is coming, and soon. Gotta get through these appetizers first and set everything up. All that said…that’s some beautiful artwork by Marc, no?
See you on Monday with 807 – Space Pig vs. Space Pigs!
I have 2 questions:
1. What does that detonator do?
2. How will space pig push the button without any fingers???
The second question also raises further questions about “space pig tech” in general.
1. You’ll see.
2. Uh…
Also, it’s great to see a grown-up Ms. Missile. Very cool.
That’s Earth-Avalon Ms. Missile, but yes! I kind of love that this one-off joke from Chapter 1 has become a full-on featured player in the story.
A random thought occurs; we can tell the versions of the humanoids by the number of fingers, but how do we tell the SPs apart?
The answer is…you can’t. Only Space Pigs can tell Space Pigs apart.
Oh that face on Space pig… Not a good omen, he is a kind pig. And how were they able to keep Atomic Fly quiet? I don’t think he is the best stealth hero out there…
In regards to the silent strips, I will say that I am not a fan, but I understand their purpose to build tension and create expectation. Also, the wonderful art of Mark makes these good, but what I love the most from SF are their characters so seeing flying evil starfleets and silent invaders for 3 consecutive strips makes me anxious.
Totally fair and expected reaction. Seeing SF in the book format is having an influence on the storytelling. Building tension and creating expectation is a good way to put it, and while it admittedly doesn’t work great when the story is coming at you in dribs and drabs, I think the eventual payoff in how it works in the chapter as a whole is worth it.
Or not. I guess we’ll see by the end of this chapter how it all shakes out, but, knowing what’s coming, I think it’s justified!
