These flashback strips are really such a showcase for Marc’s talent that I feel like anything I have to say just doesn’t matter. I will say that if you know Soviet Sam… then you probably already know how this is gonna go.

Yeah I’m truly feeling sorry for Soviet Sam. All he ever wants to do is find a form of redemption. Even if Percy is on their side playing double agent something tells me that he and Sam will not be friends with this.
Plus I’m really impressed with Marc on the colors and art in these strips as they capture the tone and setting of the flashback really well.
I think that this is why Soviet Sam is such a beloved character. He was a guy who never stood for something, a mere goon. But when he tries to do things on his own terms, things never go his way. And yet he still believes in the good and greater cause. I think that he is a lot like Captain Spectacular, as he has gone down numerous times and still finds a way to recover. I think they could learn a lot from each other
