Ah! This is so late! My schedule and life is insane right now. I am uploading this from an abandoned mental hospital right now, and that’s about as creepy as it sounds. No time for more of a post than this, I’m afraid!
See you on Monday with 711 – “Fallen Son!”
Don’t do it doc….
Didn’t Tangerine take a vow of non-violence and rediscovered his faith ?
I mean I know he was forced to kill again, but his family was in danger.
This….I don’t know what to say about it.
I don’t think he’ll do it. I think Tangerine is *about* to fall all the way to the bottom, and willingly, but look at the Doctor’s face. Doc isn’t about to shoot. He’s about to voice his cold, lizardlike support for Tangerine’s attempt to murder Thrice, and hearing that will stop Tangerine in his tracks.
Tangerine, post one year later time jump, is a conflicted soul. Yes, he took a vow of non-violence. Then, he killed again. What he did during the year gap would give you some insight, but this strip basically sums up his state of mind, albeit in an oblique way: http://superfogeys.com/2014/04/28/590-will-he-fight/
Self-defense is not violence. It is what negates violence by stopping the truly violent. It IS FORCE, but it’s not VIOLENCE. It opposes violence with what is necessary to stop it. It may be distasteful, it may make you go to therapy to deal with it, and you may not be proud of it, but so long as you’re acting to stop violence, you can be forgiven for it if you can forgive yourself.
I used to teach classes to college students on the fundamental difference between force and violence.
I don’t think it’ll happen, Tangerine will either stop for whatever or Dr Rocket might kill him.
I honestly don’t understand superhero fighting. I mean how does sinking into molten rock not kill Thrice Evil? I personally would have burst into flames… however I wouldn’t have survived a trip to hell either… does it have to do with Intent? Or how humorous it is?
I think it’s more the hell part. Remember: we have not yet gotten a full idea of Thrice’s powers. Fireproof miiight be one of them. My theory is that really has to do with the author’s extreme patience in building suspense.
The multiverse’s most intense game of “guess who?” is happening in the last panel.
Egad yes.
Doc IS preternaturally intelligent, even if it DID come from The Machine. He knows that he was in the process of being discarded by Zurida in favor of Thrice Evil. He can probably see the next 50 steps in that process, including all first-level alternatives, within a four-sigma confidence, and prime nodes of possibility to a six-sigma confidence.
But trust Doc to do what is in DOC’S best interest. It won’t necessarily be in Cap’s or Tangerine’s best interest. It might be simplest for Doc’s future if he killed all three at this point.
But I don’t predict this comic anymore. Nope. Not doing it.
I prefer brain-addled Thrice. He’s a more interesting character to this guy. I don’t like Tangerine but I think he should finish off this version of Thrice because he’s so cliché.
I agree with you (except am slowly warming to Tangerine- slowly…). For me, the only things interesting about Thrice are A)What ARE his powers? and B)HOW did Jerry so completely overpower him? Well, okay, I am curious about what the heck happened to him in the demon dimension, buuut I feel like that one will be left to our imaginations (and rightly so. Supernatural works best with suspense- not with exposition). Thrice’s personality, motivations, so on? Meh. They’re okay, but not noteworthy.
