Happy Halloween!
Right at this moment it’s 1am on an early, early Monday morning and I am freezing my butt off while we shoot, of all things, a treehouse scene about 30 yards away from me. Filmmaking keeps things interesting. Thankfully, my role as DIT (the guy who gets the footage backed up and into the computer) and On-Set Editor (creating rough cuts of every scene as fast as I can make ’em) during production allows me some spare moments here and there. I just finished lettering today’s strip–which is way, way late! I’m so sorry. Only three more weeks of this crazy schedule before we’re back to normal.
MEGA MATT
Mega Matt is, I think, a beloved/not beloved character. My sense is that he was popular early on, but he more I used him the more you readers out there tired of him. I suppose his personality is inherently annoying. Best used in small doses. Like today.
GINA GALLOWAY
Gina is one of those characters, like Matt, who flits in and out of the narrative. She was the one responsible for the Bubbles of Light that sent Swifty–and Mega Matt-hurtling through time, stranding Matt in the 50’s and 60’s in the process. It wasn’t all bad, though. Then, Gina brought Matt back, rectifying her mistake. That she now wants to “help” Matt again is new… and is a thread we’ll pick up on later. For better or worse since it involved Matt!

Considering what he and his family have been through, I’ve long thought Matt was one of the best realized characters for the sheer variety of what goes into such a “simple soul”. (Hey, I’m a sucker for well-told tale of utter insanity.) Not to mention, I went back and reread his myspace page last week, and was still sitting there grinning. I just had the (rather incorrect) impression that his story had ended. Gina, now, I feel like that girl got a lot more story to tell, and I eagerly await to see how it ends for both of them.
The MySpace pages! I had almost totally forgotten about those. What a great way to get to know the characters quickly.

I still like Matt. Magus, now him I really want to give him a bathrobe while I take his outfit to the cleaners stat. Or just dunk the whole she-bang in a tub of hot soapy water. Repeatedly.
I’m sorry you froze your butt off, Brock. I just moved to LA from MI and have yet to acclimate and would love to feel the sensation of freezing again, instead of being constantly bathed in sweat from overheating. However, I’m also really glad you are gainfully employed and posting Superfogeys again, I’m always looking forward to new posts.
Okay, I just went and reread parts of Superfogeys again, I was looking at T-Magnus strips. Because I guess I would like to see more of his back story and why he doesn’t bathe… and then the rabbit hole opened up and swallowed me… for hours…
ANYWAYS, Where’s Michelle? I want to see more of her! I think her superpowers are reason and snark, I love it. Wasn’t she with Spy Gal? Is she okay? Wait! Did she get a lazer gun and just save Gina?
Michelle has taken a seat in the back of the bus for now because the action has gotten a little heavy. Don’t worry! Things will slow down in the next chapter and we’ll see her again then.
I think you’re totally right about her super powers.
Something tells me that Matt and Gina are going to kiss each other. I have this feeling Mega Matt is going to get some long overdue loving from the opposite sex or at least a small peck on the cheek from Gina.

Maybe a peck. I feel that she sees him as a way to redeem herself after her heinous meddling with Abbadon Jerry. So she may feel more protective of him in a big-sister sort of way than a romantic way if she has feelings for him.
“Long overdue loving”, makes is sounds like its a treat or reward for good behavior, instead of a complicated relationship between two people who should view each other has human beings, btw. Also, who knows he could have been a wild sexy cat during his time in the 60’s. So he may have had some loving from the opposite sex.
