Given who Spy Gal is and given Jerry’s own actions and mental stability has lead to this situation: I think Spy Gal,is faking this love for Jerry’s sake or the mission sake.
It’s a solid theory, and I’d say there’s a lot to back it up.

Money Mam also doesn’t look thrilled about what’s going on or maybe just this version of Jerry. Jerry’s response of “I’m excited about the fun things you’re going to teach me.” Highlights Jerry’s stunted mental growth and narcissism. It’s not about saving the world it’s about what Jerry can do.
I’m going to have to go back and read, but why does Jerry need to open a portal? Avalon Thrice Evil is still in Avalon yes? Opening the portal is just going to give him the opportunity to come over to earth…

Avalon Thrice Evil obtained the power to move to Abbadon by killing Portalmaker. He hasn’t used this power yet and the Avalon heroes knows he means to. And soon. They figure if they can get there first then they can help fight against Thrice by combining their might with the Abbadon heroes. But their only means of doing so is Jerry, since Portalmaker is dead.

Nope, it’s clear. It just was explained so long ago (October 22nd, 2014, strip #530 so about nine months and 129 updates ago, time flies!) I’d gotten foggy on the details.
