And we’re back! Thanks for your patience during the past two weeks while we rejuiced and got ready for this next chapter–which is a big one. Seriously, I know we’ve raised a lot of questions and started a lot of mysteries over the years–and certainly we’ve done some big reveals along the way–but with this chapter, Chapter 19 – The Man Who Sold the World–we’re gonna solve mysteries you may not even known were there. Sending Swifty into another dimension isn’t just a lark–it’s the answer to, well…
…everything.
What does that mean? You’ll see soon.
For those of you who missed it or forgot (it WAS two weeks ago), the previous chapter ended with a HUGE cliffhanger. We’re in an alternate reality now, known as Earth-Avalon. We’re gonna be exploring this world in some really exciting ways and you’re gonna meet different versions of characters you’ve been reading about for years. As you well know, it’s all about character around here, and how these characters differ from the ones we’re familiar with and why is at the heart of this part of the story we’re telling. Should be a good ride.
See you on Wednesday!
Yeowza!!
It’s probably just me, but this feels too much like a “looks cool but don’t think about it too much” moment. My first reaction for reason was to wonder what the relative speed of Thrice Evil’s death blast is, that even if Swifty is a bit slow on catching on to the fact he’s in actual danger, the man can dodge bullets at his age without too much effort.
Then I start to wonder how easy it was for the Mage fellow to teleport Swifty directly into Thrice’s throne room, why the assorted persons were standing there at that exact moment.
Was this entire scenario pre-planned?
Then if the fellow is perfectly happy to take away the most probably reason swifty would be useful for anything, what is the reason to bring them to their dimension?
I guess what I’m trying to say is that seems a lot of extremely well done window dressing for very little in the way of concrete reasons.
Let’s assume it’s a laser attack, and Swifty’s too baffled by his current situation to have reacted in time to the trident pointing.
That argument basically works. Swifty is pretty shocked here. I think Wednesday’s strip might clear this issue up.
Yikes!!!
I don’t think time travel can fix that. š
Indeed it cannot. Well, not in this case anyway.
Well. I was shocked at first, but… I have to agree with you, Professor. Especially when we deal in the sort of Machiavellian plots that our super-plotters come up with here, it’s all far TOO convenient. “And now, my lovely assistant will…” is a good misdirection. “And now, your LEGS will…” is a much, much better one.
Hmm…
Well, if running at super-speed with a walker wasn’t hard enough, it’s going to be near impossible on a pair of stumps.
But not ACTUALLY impossible. That’s the key.
Swifty just can’t catch a break.
Well that was unexpected š
To those that think that swifty could have dodged that… relativity states that even if he was moving at the speed of light, that the laser would still approach him at the speed of light relative to swifty… General Relativity FTW!
As an unrelated matter.. Swifty can now claim to be an elf.. cause he is Legless… Legolas? Legless? Ok… ill go away now
Wow. That deserves some sort of round of applause. Or something.
I like the reasoning about relative speeds.

Is this relevant now?
Would be pretty awesome. I aways assumed that this thing happened between then and when the series began.
Cyrian is right, this basically already happened. We even saw a brief flashback about it. I think it was in Chapter 9. Of those stories I’ll tell more fully if I ever get an artist interested in doing another SuperFogeys Origin story.
I need it to be Wednesday. How can you make people wait two days to find out the next panel on this????
Because I am a cruel, cruel man.

That’s because the previous strip is in a previous chapter. You can only go backwards within a chapter itself. If you hit Previous Chapter you’ll go to the start of the previous chapter and then you can forward from there. Sorry for the confusion. We’re really stretching the limits of what Comicpress can do and this was the workaround we had to settle for in order to have chapters et up the way they are.
