Everything I said about how great Marc art was on the previous strip carries over here. This is the kind of stuff that makes what I was doing in the first few chapters a joke.
You should get a better sense of Swifty’s perspective from today’s strip. I don’t know about you, but I didn’t really know how much I missed the guy until now. He brings a flavor that no other character currently has. You need a snarky, tell-it-like-it-is kind of guy around. That’s valuable. When I think about it, I sometimes tend to be that guy in my own life and I seek others like that when I can’t be. Any of you do that?
Next week: Swifty pays a visit to Valhalla.
I’m honestly not sure whether swifty’s last remark is sarcastic or not. On the one hand, I’m sure that “annoying super-resurrections” (apologies to Herman) are abundant – but on the other, I imagine that most things likely to down a superhero would not be likely to leave much in the way of a body.
I think it’s less about super-resurrections and more about the “don’t count anything out until you’ve seen the body” trope. (See: CSII)
But, so far as resurrections go, I like this take on it: http://superfogeys.com/2009/01/06/guest-strip-by-t-l-collins-of-bullfinch/
That is a classic guest strip. Good call.
Either Valhalla is destroyed or it’s converted into something else to shock Swifty.
Still, that would’ve been scary if that Tombstone told the real truth to the old speedster. 🙁
Very scary.
Of course, you’re assuming Swifty’s right.
Don’t just walk away. Not only do they bury people when they don’t have a body, sometimes they put the usefull McGuffin in the coffin.
That’s true! They always do.
I like seeing Swifty without his cowl. It really humanizes him and allows his face to be more expressive. Yes, the art is wonderful and atmospheric, Brock. but don’t get a complex. Your stuff is good – and you weren’t going for this when you started. It was a comedy strip, a satire.
I don’t really have a complex (much), but I feel it’s important to recognize superior work. Marc brings SF to the next level and beyond just making the strip super pretty, he allows me to tells stories I might not otherwise be able to. I want to be sure and always appreciate that.
So I may be a little late to the party on this one, but this is the first time that I put together that Swifty (who is akin to “The Flash”) has the first name Gordon. Now I’m hoping for some Ming the Merciless play on words to show up down the road (Unless I’m late to the party on that as well).
