Fun fact: the first panel of this strip was originally intended as the last panel of the previous strip. Marc had the great idea of splitting it differently to give the previous strip a heavier, more cinematic feel. I like the moodiness of it, which leads oddly perfectly into the more goofy/gross tone of today’s strip. How about that kiss, huh? So sweet. So romantic.

I would never rule that out, but I don’t see it in the near future.

That’s so nauseatingly wrong that it simply CAN’T loop back around to right. I hope Doctor Rocket’s got some sort of plan… ‘Cause if Cap is imprisoned and powerless due to alcohol and torture while Zurida and Dark Maiden are still working together, we’re going to need SOMEBODY to do something and I’m not quite ready to count on a certain former sidekick.

I’ve never been so simultaneously happy and horrified. I’m pretty sure they’re perfect for each other but at the same time… Just… EWWW!

It’s like how I feel about Roger and Jessica rabbit. You really don’t want to imagine them being… well, “affectionate”, but darn it if they aren’t a legitimately good couple.
Dang. That’s a perfectly apt comparison.
Most people seem to find the kiss unnerving, but what threw me was seeing Zurida with such a happy look on her face in panel 2. Not just an “evil” happy look, but a genuinely happy look. Down right ecstatic, I’d say. Gorgeous Guy seems awful comfy lounging there like a cat at the Two Queens feet. Is he Dark Maiden’s new “pet”? For some reason I think Jim and Champy-kun are right, and he’s CSII with a much needed haircut. Marc did another fantastic job, and I love the detail of Zurida’s hair coiling around Dr Rocket.
I totally didn’t notice the coiling. That’s awesome! I’m a pretty detail-oriented, but Marc one ups me a bunch like that and I love it.
I am kinda happy for Dr. Rocket, he’s never had someone who loves him, as Zurida clearly does in panel two. Though that is the sort of Perfect Couple everyone should fear, so it probably won’t last long.
So, whoever the lounging “gorgeous guy” in the throne room is… where’s Percy?
Also, Star Maiden doesn’t look comfortable on her throne the first panel. Not emotionally, just physically, which I never understood, all thrones look uncomfortable. When I take over the world my throne will be intimidating AND ergonomically correct.
Percy is not in any of these scenes. Yes, you should be reading into that.
