Marc is just killin’ it with these interior Palace scenes. I might have said that before, but I can’t really say it enough.
There’s a lot more meat to this strip that might at first appear to a casual reader. You’ll recall Zurida got the power crystal from Jerry and that Jerry confessed to Spy Gal just recently that he made a deal with her for their safety. Trust me, kids. This one’s important.
Everybody see the 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who specials? Gotta say they knocked it out of the park for me.
Well played, Jerry.
Or, now that I think about it – perhaps we have Doctor Rocket to thank. Zurida would doubtless have had him closely watched as he worked on the Guthrie, but he’s a pretty crafty fellow, and I wouldn’t put a switch beyond him.
I admit thinking Doctor Rocket to be the prime culprit (even though the author’s commentary left it clear Jerry is the one to blame, sneaky mouse that he is!)
And now we are shown that Jerry, evil as he is, is still not as ruthless and selfish as we believed.
Let’s watch the ensuing all-stars battle royale between the aliens, shall we?
Good point, John. We know the two of them have handled it.
Mr. Heasley, will this be on the test?
“Trust me, kids. This one’s important.”
Everything is on the test. Don’t you know that, Greg?
Everything is always on the test.
Ha ha, this is like the most logical twist that we didn’t see coming. : D
That’s the best kind, right?
Can you blame it? Zurida is wearing a pretty revealing outfit…
Ba-dum bum.
The one in this strip is a working title, okay?
can’t remember about all the powers that the Cap has (like that time that we almost forgot that he could turn invisible). Does he also has telepathy or he is only explaining the stuff to Tangerine with facial expressions?
Cap does not have telepathy (come to think of it, we’ve never seen anyone in the SF universe with telepathy), so they’re really just throwing each other looks in the above strip.
Things.. have gone… terribly wrong… somehow
You won’t have to wait long to find out how. How does Wednesday sound?
I’m starting to run out of adjectives to describer how outstanding Marc’s work is. I shall go with phenomenal for today’s strip. Judging from the look on Cap’s face, he was as surprised as anyone else. Crazy isn’t the same thing as stupid, so Jerry may still have the real one to use in Mr Crooks doomsday plan. Also, I don’t think you could ever watch Dr Rocket closely enough to be sure he couldn’t pull a fast one. We haven’t seen Harvey lately, he could have made his way through the palace ventilation system and helped him with the switch off. I mentioned before that I thought it was strange that Dr Rocket used the crystal to power the robot if he was so worried about it attracting the aliens and that it might be part of an elaborate trick. We know he’s not above exterminating entire alien races, he knows he ticked a bunch of them off, and, well, he’s old. Easier to bring them to him to take them out all at once the chase them across the galaxy. To hedge my bets I’ll also go with Percy, Swifty and Money Man as the dark horse candidates. It’s possible that Percy is a good person at heart, or just that he want’s rid of Zurida. As close as they seem – Zurida is a doting if diabolical mother – we really haven’t really seen anything from Percy’s perspective. He may want to stop anyone from using the Guthrie for altruistic reasons or maybe he’s just tired of waiting to succeed someone who either ages very slowly or is immortal. Zurida doesn’t really look any older than she did in Dr Rocket’s flashback. Also still got a time lost Swifty floating around. Having traveled through time, maybe a future Swifty goes back again to stop the Guthrie from being used. Finally, alternate dimension five-fingered Money Man. He seems able to come and go as he pleases, I’m tossing him in for that reason alone.
Andrew, you keep me on my toes. I gotta watch my spinning plates closely–I know you and a few others like you have their eyes on every single one!
If it wasn’t for the scan revealing the crystal to be fake I’d think that her Promise to Jerry was more binding than to just word. Alas, there seems to be no crystalbound geas.
