New to SuperFogeys? Then you’ve come on the right day. Though the invaders first arrived at Earth in SF 400, this is the first time their overall plan has been spelled out. We’ve known their motivation–Dr. Rocket made a genocidal sweep of the universe in a merciless act of vengeance–but their goal has been somewhat shrouded in mystery. No longer. Of course, one question simply raises another…
Hey, hey! Dictator Tot made a cameo over at Frankenstein Superstar–check it out!
Zurida!! Even I know you should never flip switches with your eyes closed!
Unless it’s nighttime and you’re searching for the light switch.
That’s not a switch though, it’s a dial. Therefore she is safe!
True. Dials are never dangerous.
Wait a minute if it is not Zurdia’s plan then who’s the REAL MASTERMIND behind all this ? š
There’s a lot I could say about this, but I think it’s best to wait for Monday.
Okay, was there any other detail about Dr. Rocket’s torture besides, well, that genocide? Do I need to read the whole series again? I missed something.
You’re referring to two different stories, I think. The torture was during his youth, but the genocidal rampage was a comparatively recent event. Am I clearing it up or making it worse? The links in the notes below the strip should help.
The universe is composed of a strange assortment of puppetmasters.
It’s true. And their marionettes are WEIRD.
I know that body language and verbal pause….. And I’m surprised by it. She is being coerced. There’s something worse waiting to fall on her head if she doesn’t. Isn’t there?
Monday.
Monday?? But that was like….. 4 days ago!!!!! How am I supposed to get back there to see the update?? HUH??
Huh, I’ll have to check up in the archives I suppose. I was convinced Dr. Rocket and Captain Spectacular were aliens, in the superman kinda way… TO THE ARCHIVES!
No, they’re — JEWISH!! Buh buh buuuhhhh!!!
…Which I find awesome, just to note.
Will speaks the truth. You might want to check in on the giant flashback in the middle of Chapter 6. Should clear their origins up nicely.
For me, it varies a lot. If I’m suiosnscbcuoly trying to avoid doing work, for whatever reason (usually because I feel stuck on something), I can sit at the computer for 20 hours and get 3 hours of writing done. If I’m on a roll, I can sit at the computer for 40 hours and get 30 hours of writing done!
This song reminds me of what Zurida may be feeling…but then, I don’t predict this comic anymore…
My flying saucer where can you be
Since that sad night that you sailed away from me?
My flying saucer I pray this night
You will sail back before the day gets bright
My flying saucer fly back for home!
You will get lost in the universe alone!
My flying saucer and all my fears
Sail back tonight, love and kiss away my tears
— another “Guthrie”, My Flying Saucer
Innnnnteresting…
So she refers to the evil that the Money Man warn them before? Now I’m curious, who or what is strong enough to bend Zurida’s will? (I bet that the evil masterminds behind this are the pacman ghosts from SF 321…)
Monday.
I think you guys are gonna be pretty surprised.
It better not be the mice again…or an evil industrialist using a bad thespian as his mouthpiece. Both of those have been done.
Just came over from Frankenstein Superstar! Man, John Hazard sure connects the webcomics world together, like that ‘Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon’ game!
John’s a scholar and a gentleman for including Dictator Tot in that lineup. So cool to see her there! Glad she still has her fans. We’ll see her again one day.
OK, so… what?
Zurida explains to Jerry, whom we assume was born on Earth, that all beings born on Earth are to be eradicated. The first thing Jerry asks in response is “What about Captain Spectacular?” instead of “Oh, hey, I’m Earth-born. So’s the gal I love. This conversation is over. Bye.”
Is he trying to appeal to Zurida’s better nature, or does this whole Annihilate All That Is Earth-Born exclude him? Or am I over analyzing?
Couple of things:
1. Jerry has Zurida talking. If nothing else, he’s an uncanny student of human behavior. He wants to find out as much as possible.
2. Yeah, I do think he’s trying to appeal to Zurida’s better nature a bit–but again, it’s all in the service of gathering information. I think by the end of this chapter you’ll kind of see what he’s doing.
Great questions though, Dean. Thanks!
[…] pretty much everybody. Zurida was the first one to mention it, and you can get all the details right here. The rest of this chapter focuses big time on the Guthrie, so take it all […]
