This isn’t exactly the team-up I think anybody saw coming, but here it is, the Fogey super team: Spy Gal, Swifty, Soviet Sam and Space Pig! Anyone whose name doesn’t start with an S need not apply.
Avengers in four days! Avengers in four days! I know there have to be people who read SuperFogeys who have no interest in seeing The Avengers, but at the moment I can’t imagine how you actually exist in this universe. You’re walking paradoxes. Impossible people!
Even if I didn’t know Jerry was Dr. Klein and the Third Man, I think he’s being a jerk here. And he doesn’t even have a rebuttal. He’s just brushing it off. Jerry has obviously never been married before.
Or HAS he??
Also, does he ever open doors in his sleep? Because that would be both revealing and dangerous.
I would imagine that Jerry hasn’t even dated anybody else in his life as Spy Gal is his only love. He’s inexperienced quite. But I guess Brock knows better.
This is a good question. Has Jerry ever had a relationship with anyone else? Consider this information safely unrevealed.
Y’see what he did there? He made a mistake. He called it a ‘fools errand’. So what does she do?
Goes and gets a small handful of fools to handle it.
Ha! NICE.
YES YES YES, I LOVE our strike team!!!
Also, she has no reason to suspect Jerry yet, BUT… he just planted the seeds by being ‘the guy who leaps into the fray when civilians are put in danger’ but also being ‘guy who immediately shoots down even the idea of *trying* to unmask the Third Man’. The two, they just do not jive.
This is what happens when there are too many sides to your personality and you start playing them against each other.
It isn’t that much of a disconnect, it’s basically the difference between a retired hero who saw heroism as a calling and one who saw it as a job. The former won’t go looking for trouble leaving it to the younger or active heroes but when they encounter it they’ll face it head on because that’s what heroes do while the latter has no interest at all like Cap in Vegas.
I guess Swifty is this team’s caring, lovable father figure who cheers others when they need it most?
By which I mean what is he doing there and why is he smiling?
Spy Gal is offering something different than anything anyone has ever offered Swifty during the entire history of this strip.
I’ve not seen those three look that happy in a long time.
Sally: You look different .. younger.
Baron Munchausen: I always feel rejuvenated by a touch of adventure.
One of my favorite movies of all time.
I have a feeling this is going to be a bit like the old TV movie “The Over-The-Hill Gang.” 🙂
You got it. Haven’t seen that movie, but that’s a great quote.
To credit Spy Gal, she did pick the three people nobody would ever expect to team up for the mission.
Can’t disagree with that.
A unanimous “We Accept!! Now what’s the mission?” arises from the couch. 🙂 Now that’s a team. I know this is leading up to Swiftys bounce around through time and I can’t wait to find out how that starts and what they, or at least he uncovers before that begins.
Reactions in Wednesday’s strip, with at least one person being very, VERY excited about it all. One guess as to who.
Kuods Mark! in panel 2 jerry has the right number of teeth (28 without wisdom teeth)!
(Sorry, my Dad was a dentist.)
Nice! Now there’s a detail I didn’t know Marc worked in there.
Kudos Mark…
Me thinketh he doth protest too much…
I love that quote. I probably use it too much.
Awesome! I’m loving this. I always pictured this team up – except without Spy Gal. Weird.
That is weird. I don’t know HOW you got there.
