It pains me that I’ve never used these kids since writing this story years ago. It’s just such a fun idea and artist Chip Skelton did such a great job designing them. A superhero kid team made up of Unicef Collecting kids with halloween costumes and powers to match–why didn’t anyone ever think of it before??
so this story has really got me wondering how thrice evil ended up where he is today, as Dr. Rockets “pet”. I mean he was huge! wonder if there was a falling out between him and Dr. R.
i for one never really understood his origin story. Was the kid transformed or was he replaced?
so i guess it was Jerry that somehow rigged thrice like he is. i would still like to know how that happened š
When I read it, I thought Thrice was jumping into the argument as well and yelling “DO TOO!” That would have been pretty hilarious. There’s nowhere near enough time for them to be arguing like that while busting through a door though.
I know this is a long-done comic, but if I were to animate it, I would have them burst through, have the kids arguing while everyone stops and stares, and then have Thrice jump into it the argument without warning by yelling “YOU DO TOO!” and then adding “Get them!”
That’d be a fantastic character trait — a villain who has a compulsive need to put his two cents into any debate or argument and then moving on with his evil plans while everyone else is still stuck on the part where the villain seemed to have a vested interest in the conversation. Maybe have him constantly jumping into arguments on the Internet as well.
Point aside, I think the Unicef Upstarts would make a pretty awesome super-team.
IS it just me….or do the unicef upstarts look like they were inspired by “Lock, Shock and Barrel” from the nightmare before christmas?
It’s just you, drew. I’ve actually never seen the film.
