Tangerine quoting Gandhi? You better believe it. I really love how different this chapter feels already, compared to the last one. Marc handles the quiet stuff just as well as the big action.

I doubt that slap helped. Sure was funny though. š
By the way, I posted on the podcast comments already. Great interview. I’m repeating it here though, because I’m really curious. Was the detail we missed in the bubbles of light chapter that Future Swifty was brought in rather than past Swifty? Also, why was Present Swifty’s mind wiped if his future version was pulled in on purpose anyway?
That was actually covered in the arc. As a speedster Swifty was tricky to get a hold of and she accidentally grabbed a future version instead of a past one, and the words of the memory wipe spell were specifically targeted at the younger versions with the exception of Jerry.
Was the detail the fact that since Jerry arranged for his memories to be retained he could have potentially saved Spy Gal’s husband and did nothing? That’s another tick in the evil column for me, letting a good man die in order to achieve his desires and Spy Gal will break him if/when she realises that.
I don’t know. The problem with this whole time travel thing is that everything is a predestination paradox. Had he saved Gal’s husband than he probably would have lost all chances with her, thus never opening Valhalla. Then he would never have been able to go back in time to tell himself all that stuff. Then it never would have happened. You see the problem? Also, he did forget what his future self told him at some point. He only remembered the plan when he was older.
The whole Future Swifty thing was not an accident. She pulled him on purpose because she said he was a slippery guy. So that wasn’t an accident. But wiping present Swifty’s memory because he was younger is plausible. Still it isn’t fully explained.
Sorry bring back his past self, not go back in time.
Lewis is right, the wording of the spell is what caused Present Swifty’s mind to be erased. Had the time traveling swap gone as intended, it wouldn’t have been a problem. As is, Future Swifty was returned to his present with memories intact whereas, for Present Swifty, Chapter 10 never happened.
So what was the detail we all missed?
I do remember saying there was a detail everyone missed in Chapter 10, but do you remember where I said that? Having a hard time remembering right now.
Sadly, I believe it was in the comments section where you mentioned it. It definitely was in the very last strip of chapter 10, though. Man, that one has been bugging me for a while. Please remember, Brock! If not I’ll end up like this -> @_@ (supposed to be crazy eyes, but I’m just kidding about that.)
Not exactly touched by an angel, right? Right? š
Point for Infamous Nefarious.
Nice work, T-man!
I’m kinda confused as to why he’s quoting Gandhi when the last time we saw him he was enthralled with Christianity. But I’m also really glad to see he hasn’t lost his spunk in all of this, a slap upside the head is what Cap’n really needed.
Tangerine was getting into all kinds of holy books (remember the stack his son dropped off?); the Bible was only one of them.
Besides, Ghandi was a great and magnificently wise man. Don’t need to be Hindu to recognize that.
billdaking is right. Tangerine is reading many books right now.
what did the four fingers say to the face? SLAP!
I hope Tangerine can help Captain with a wake up call. At least the slap got his attention. There’s just something about Panel 3 that I absolutely love. The look of it is amazing. Marc as always does an amazing job.
Couldn’t agree more!
That stubble makes Captain look kinda like Bruce Willis
You know what? You’re right! Huh.
Holy crap, CS is such a child. “I love you. Doesn’t that mean you forgive everything?” Yeah, there’s a reason why so many of your marriages failed. Loving is more than just liking someone a lot, it means one has to put the other person before oneself. If you wouldn’t get up off your butt while all hell’s breaking loose to help out your fiance, how could she expect you to be a proper husband? It’d be different if she left you because you were always at the slots while there were chores to do, but this is her running out with a power-dampener still attached to fight a giant robot.
Still more believable and in-character than SpyGal marrying Jerry then and there though. I mean, if she were drunk off her skull I could see her doing that, but still…
Hey Dr. Rocket — killing CS when you had the shot probably would have been more merciful.
Agreed. Lord, I’ve been wanting to see somebody smack that dufus for a long time. And yes – Tangerine’s only saying what I said before: Coward. And complete lack of any self-awareness. Hit him again. Harder.
Actually, I took that line (“I loved her. Why didn’t that matter?”) differently from you. He’s asking himself that question, right after telling Tangerine that while he’s rich, he could be richer.
CS is asking why his love for Spy Girl didn’t matter *for him,* why trying to win all that money was more important than her. Remember that she had come to get him, waited for him, then left his engagement ring. He picked it up, and continued to happily gamble, knowing full well she had just left him, but too much in the throes of gambling to notice.
Man’s got a gambling addiction (which I’m sure Jerry/Dr. Klein knew about). That’s exactly what it looks like. Now that he’s away from temptation and back to reality, the full realization of how he acted has hit him, and he’s realized what he’s lost.
Gotta admit…I still see it as Cap asking why the fact that he loved her wasn’t enough to keep them together. His relationship history shows to me that he doesn’t really understand what’s needed to keep a relationship lasting.
I love both interpretations. Which is right is not for me to say, methinks.
Gotta throw in with Scott, JE, and Bryan. Look not only at his relationship history, but his entire life. He was kidnapped and given these powers as a child.
…when did he ever grow up, hmm?
For some reason it keeps saying duplicated comment and that I’ve already said this before. What’s up with that? Are you playing time travel games with me, Brock?
Original post is as follows:

Aww great, it did post, but didn’t update when I checked. Sorry for the double post.
*continues to watch for Mega Matt intently*
*ESPECIALLY keeping the background in sight*
I know your tricks now, Mister LaPierre!!
A appearance of Mega Matt would be awesome…I miss that guy.
I love Tangerine quoting Gandhi and then using some violence to make his point. He’s been doing his reading, but he has some way to go yet!
As for Captain Spectacular… I’m going to go with the thought I’ve been having a while, that there is something wrong to him. Whether or not it’s all his own psychology crushing in on him or something that was done to him to make him this docile, I’m not entirely sure. But ever since they got to Vegas, he isn’t himself. It isn’t like Jerry decided to take them to Vegas just to stage the giant robot attack. He could have gotten just as much drama out of it in most any location. Either he was intentionally letting Captain Spectacular fall prey to one of his major vices where he was guaranteed to fall victim to it, or he hypnotized him, or something. After all, Jerry had to be setting him up to be out of the picture in the robot fight so he could look the hero himself and not get overshadowed yet again.
Marc, did you purposely give CS a Christopher Reeve nose? Or Brock, was that you? Very nice touch.
