Marc’s level of detail never ceases to surprise and impress me. I love Jerry’s face in the camera of that first panel.
Yes! Great, unscripted detail.
I second Tyler’s love for Jerry’s reflected face in panel 1!
Wow, didn’t see this coming, but why wouldn’t it? But has Jerry forgotten about Spy Gal?
Do you really think that’s possible? Really?
Then again… those girls are pretty hot.
Looks like Swifty’s getting ready to tell the people how it is. Unfortunately, i doubt anyone will listen.
I doubt he forgot about her. In fact, I think he’s acting since this would be very plausible behavior for someone like him. It’s all according to plan. The worst part is that he’ll be the most likely to be by Spy Gal’s side when she recovers. CS is probably still gambling. He didn’t even care that SG went off to fight. I think Jerry is cool and all, but I guess that would be the Jerry he wanted everyone to see, not the Jerry he really is. I love how despite everything, Swifty still doesn’t like him. Keep being suspicious, Swifty. We all know things will go wrong eventually.
Am I the only one here who’s perfectly fine with Jerry pulling the rug over everyone? So far, the only truly heinous thing that happened was Herman’s death, but the end result was Tangerine being destroyed so that evens things up some. Look at things from Jerry’s point of view — his entire life he’s basically been spit on or held back. (The only three who seem to have really worked for their position have been Jerry, Dr. Rocket & Spy Gal — the first two don’t have easy powers to coast on while Spy Gal has had to take a reformer’s route).
That said, this isn’t going to go well. Dr. Rocket will more than likely use his new information to advantage and I have a feeling that C.S. will actually have to save the day eventually as a result, probably by talking Jerry down and resulting in his destruction.
I just can’t root for the guy. He’s run the facade way too long and come up with too deep a scheme to have not completely lost any semblance of goodness. If I rooted for him, it’s only because I felt like rooting for the “bad guy”.
I agree with Bryan. He’s not just a phony, he a juvenile who never grew up. He’s not a hero – he is still more into himself than into anything or anyone else. And I think that kidnapping and imprisoning people against their will is still not exactly “no harm no foul” If you’re a real hero, it doesn’t matter how many times you get dissed or ignored, you still do what’s right. On top of which, how the heck old is he, anyway, and he never decided to get a hero gig of his own? He’s the one who trapped himself as a sidekick, nobody else could do that. Jerry could have taken a page from Dick Grayson’s book – but did he? He could have been the “Third Man” or “The Doorway” or “Secret Passage” as a solo hero, but no. No imagination, no identity outside of CS. I don’t care how many schemes he runs or how bad his widdle ego got bruised, he basically chose to just be a selfish punk – and not a hero.
Yeah, he’s not really a hero. Everything up to the time travel chapter was planned. Sure he may have done some heroic stuff, but in all honesty Jerry isn’t a hero. It’s like I said, I prefer the Jerry he wanted us to see over the real one. In the end the real satisfying ending would be Doctor Rocket ending up with SG, just to troll CS and Jerry.
Loving the debate, guys.
There is nothing more I would like more than to see Jerry shown to be the fraud, phoney, liar and scheeming conniver he is. I agree with JE, he could have gone on a solo career to show he was more than a sidekick, by showing he had powers, thus earning their respect and possibly Spy Girl’s love. Instead he hid behind CS’s capestrings prederring to be protected and not expected to contribute anything. He’s just another spoiled brat who gets all mad and crying when things don’t go his way.
I just thought of something else. I remember when told he was going to college (http://superfogeys.com/2011/06/03/sf-origins-jerry-pg-8-future-imperfect/) he said “school is for squares.” shows how unimagative and lazy he was. Dick Grayson and the silver age Clark Kent went to colege and still found time to be Robin and Superboy.
Jerry is so hot right now!
Great work guys!
Right? RIGHT!? Look at that guy. Jerry is so cut and muscular. What woman wouldn’t fall for his charms?
