Soviet Sam makes me happy. He’s a character I’ve barely drawn myself, but I love how easily he fits into the main story and how much his presence adds to the proceedings.
Nice seeing a bunch of the characters in the same strip again. Marc always handles these crowd scenes so well.

Jerry, you… *fortunate* weasel!
Thank you for not killing Sam. He appreciates it too, I’m sure.
You’re welcome. He can die another day.
Ever heard of a spoiler alert? Way to treat your fans.
If Soviet Sam were real he would punch you across the room.
…
And then say, “Oh, thanks for creating me.”
I was hoping he’d out Jerry.
Who’s to say he still won’t?
Oooooooo?
DUNDUNDUN!
Rocket would have to out himself for building the robot if he outs Jerry.
So how’s the plan working so far?
Did a lot of destruction.
Nearly got Gene and his niece crushed (failure to kill Gene could go either way).
Didn’t expect Spy Gal to get out of the power dampener and come help.
Didn’t realize that the effects of the dampener wouldn’t wear of immediately.
Got Spy Gal smacked into a building.
Basked in congratulations rather than rushed over and make sure Spy Gal was all right.
Not so good so far.
Some things have gone wrong and some things have gone right, that’s true…
I’m honestly surprised Dr. Rocket hadn’t already figured out Jerry was Dr. Klein.
@gnrrg — In all fairness, she gave him a thumbs up and he got surrounded by the others first.
I love just seeing Sam smiling. Definitely fortunate for everyone, but Spy Gal and Captain still have a confrontation to deal with before this chapter comes to a close. I love how well Jerry is playing this off. He is definitely showing his craftiness through all of this.
Jerry’s a smart cookie, no doubt. You don’t think the showdown Cap and Spy Gal already had was enough?
I love the crescendo that’s building up here, story-wise. I feel pretty close to Jerry and I’ve found myself slowly starting to come around to rooting for him the more this arc progresses. I didn’t notice it until today when I had a moment of glee that he’s being hailed as a hero after all this time.
Another thing I’m noticing is that Marc’s coloring in the last few strips has elevated to a new level. The way he separates the planes of the art, the color choices, and the modeling on the characters is incredibly well done. I’m in awe whenever I see a facet of art done this deliberately and confidently.
Rooting for Jerry? I love that.
As for Marc’s coloring… yeah, he’s knocking me out lately. And his linework is just as strong. I think SuperFogeys is now one of the very best looking strips out there. Still too far under the radar to be recognized as such, but Marc has really brought the strip to a new high.
Doc Rocket isn’t fooled one tiny bit.
Jerry could say that he is just a pawn in Klein’s plan. That could work. After all I doubt that the good doctor thinks highly of Jerry. Unless he realizes Jerry has a thing for SG then he has his proof. Still, this all worked out too well for Jerry, other than DR suspecting him. We really need to see something from CS and soon. I haven’t lost faith in him, but it all seemed to fit too perfectly. Not that the story suffers from it. After all Jerry knows CS best. Most likely he planned the trip in Vegas just so CS would get into the gambling and SG would lose faith in him. The robot rampaging could have happened anywhere with the same effect on SG, but CS needed to be out of the picture for that effect to happen.
I love the variety of takes on what’s happening. One person thinks everything has gone wrong, another thinks it’s gong too well. Can’t wait for you guys to see how the chapter ends.
Jerry’s clever, alright. Clever enough to realise that Doc Rocket needs to have an accident soon, or there’s going to be a problem. Then again, who’s to say that this cancer wasn’t somehow Jerry-induced?
Now there’s something I don’t think anyone has brought up before.
No kidding…hmmm…
It was good thing that there was that Soviet Sam origin, otherwise he wouldn’t probably be here. |:
Dr. Rocket isn’t too happy that blue crystal is still existing, I guess.
Among the holes in Jerry’s story Rocket knows but I haven’t seen noted:
As the builder of the robot, Rocket knows there were no panels on it, since it reconstructed itself with nano-machines. (Well, maybe itty-bitty nano-panels =) )
I didn’t see Rocket note no panels at any point. Did I miss that?
i think that jerry might actually start feeling guilty. doesnt look like he expected all that praise
I get in about 2 hours a day, in the week. The hubsie threw a fit when I tried to write on the weekned, so I get in a little bit here and there, like crack. I judge my time in words, though, and I won’t stop before I crank out 2k a day.
