I had written myself into a bit of a corner. I had Spy Gal come to Valhalla, but she didn’t really need to be there. Somehow, I had to make her stay. Enter the Orderly (later named Gene) and the Power Dampener. Visually, Spy Gal would never be the same after this strip and I sort of lament that fact now, but what are you gonna do? The only problem is that the power dampener idea came after I had designed all of the other characters and it begged the question as to why they didn’t have one! I address this towards the end of Chapter 1 because I’m anal that way.

This strip also has one of my most favorite drawings of Spy Gal. She just looks so darn cute in that first panel. Not nearly old enough, but very cute.
